Champion Chemicals – Sam Bompas and Harry Parr discuss and demonstrate their favourite chemicals encompassing explosives, alcohol, ether, gelatine and aphrodisiacs and relate their alcohol odyssey. From the bottom of their Hendrick’s Gin-soaked hearts they reveal the inspiration for Cocktails with Bompas & Parr and make drinks using alcohol, the world’s most psychoactive drug. The evening celebrates the publication of Cocktails with Bompas & Parr.
Since founding the company in 2007 Bompas & Parr have flooded a Grade-I listed building with four tonnes of alcoholic punch, created a Breathable cloud of gin and tonic and charted the complete history of food. Blurring the boundaries of food and art they have designed jellies with some of the world’s leading architects such as Lord Foster and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and invented the world’s first flavour-changing chewing gum. Over the summer they worked with three engineering firms and a roller-coaster designer to flood the roof of Selfridges creating an emerald green boating lake and float up bar.
