Peter Haining
Biography
A former newspaper reporter, magazine editor and publishing executive, Peter Haining was best known as a prolific author and editor, having contributed to more than 170 publications in his lifetime. He wrote both fiction and non-fiction, with a strong focus on horror and fantasy, but also on a variety of subjects from the Channel Tunnel to Doctor Who. Peter also wrote The Television Sherlock Holmes (1991), the definitive study of the character's screen career, and several other TV tie-ins on Maigret, Poirot and James Bond. He is also the author of a series of WWII stories based on extensive research and personal interviews: The Jail That Went To Sea (2003), The Mystery of Rommel's Gold (2004), Where The Eagle Landed (2004), The Chianti Raiders (2005) and The Banzai Hunters (2007). He won the Karl Edward Wagner Award in 2001. Peter passed away in 2007.
