Synopsis

Have you ever knit a jumper only to find out that the sleeves were too long or short, or the body too loose or too tight? Now available in paperback, Finishing Techniques for Hand Knitters provides knitters of all skill levels with techniques to create knitwear, which look as good as they fit. From which method of casting on works best for your garment to pressing and blocking, every step of the knitting process can affect the look and fit of a design. Create professional-looking designs by weaving new techniques and using short cuts, but even more importantly, where not to cut corners. Learn how to read patterns, decipher instructions and the different methods of casting on and off. When you’re ready to move on, discover techniques for proper shaping and sizing as well as seaming. Furthermore, if you’re looking for a decorative finish to your knitted garments, one of the chapters is devoted to beautiful embellishments such as beads, pompoms, fringes and tassels. With this book, creating the perfect buttonholes or a lining to your latest knitted jacket will be easier than ever. Whether you’re a student learning how to cast on your first stitch or an expert knitter who simply wants to improve an old skill, this is an invaluable addition to any knitter’s library.
